Sefton Fross is pleased to announce the appointment of Managing Partner, Olayemi Anyanechi, as a member of the Nigerian Senate’s Technical Committee on Financial Law Reform.
The 12-man Committee consists of seasoned experts and leaders of industry from various disciplines including banking and finance, economics and law. The Committee is charged with reviewing and harmonizing bills undergoing legislative review, to assist the Senate ensure that Bills meet international standards, as well as minimize opportunities for regulatory arbitrage.
The respective Bills deal with a wide range of financial law matters, including the provision for the management, administration, operation, regulation and supervision of payment, clearing and settlement systems and connected matters; creation of a legal framework for national crediting reporting and connected matters, as well as amendment of the Foreign Exchange (Monitoring and Miscellaneous Provisions) Act.
The Committee was formally inaugurated on the 7th of March 2017 at the Senate in Abuja.
Sefton Fross acknowledges the know-how and expertise Olayemi will bring to the Committee and wish her and the other members of the Committee successful deliberations.
